Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year always takes place on the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar and this starts the day following the first new moon between January 21 and February 20. In 2023, the Chinese New Year took place on Sunday, January 22 on the Gregorian calendar. Each year also has a corresponding animal from the Chinese zodiac, based on ancient Chinese mythology; last year was the Year of the Rabbit, and 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, 10th February 2024. We celebrated Chinese new year with a Chinese banquet cooked by Hawks, Eagles and Owls class. All classes decorated the banquet hall and we enjoyed foods from china to celebrate the year of the Dragon.

Everyone really enjoyed the food, we cooked and ate chicken chow mein, egg fu young, stir fried vegetables, sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice, spring rolls, dumplings and prawn toast.

The room looked fantastic Thanks to everyone.
