Established in September 2024, Central Hub Brighton, Middle School provides a welcoming, caring and compassionate approach for children as they make the often-tricky transition between primary school and the early years of secondary school. We work with up to 12 students with SEMH needs for whom we are their full-time school, split across two forms in Year 7 (expanding to a further 12 places for Year 8 in September 2025).
Much like our primary colleagues, we accept everybody for who they are and strive to help pupils understand their behaviours, learning pro-social ways of expressing their feelings and managing their emotions. Our aim is to help young people to develop their self-esteem, self-confidence and resilience to better understand themselves as learners.
Our developing curriculum focuses upon personal growth, new experiences and the development of essential educational and life skills. In addition to core National Curriculum subjects, we provide a range of learner-driven project-based learning, and enriching activities. We are also building connections with local communities, youth organisations, and service providers to offer students a supportive and inclusive environment where they can explore, reflect, and feel valued, with everyone having a voice.
Mutual respect is a fundamental value at the Middle School, where societies’ diversities are celebrated and explored. This is integrated into our weekly themes, PSHE lesson and throughout the curriculum.
Children, their families and staff here feel proud that they are part of such a unique and special educational community and all work together to communicate and celebrate our successes.
