Admissions

The Connected Hub

Places at The Connected Hub (Year 11 PRU) are by referral only from Brighton and Hove schools, the Virtual School and the Local Authority

Places are limited to 36 and all students take part in an informal pre-admission meeting prior to a place being confirmed, so that pupil know what to expect, and to see if The Connected Hub is the right place for each individual.

Please talk to your child’s school for further information if they are currently in Year 10.

Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)

Referrals to the PRU are made via the Local Authority, or via the Behaviour and Attendance Partnership. Secondary schools work together with the PRU to allocate places on a basis of need and to prevent permanent exclusions. We are currently working with the LA to develop our service level agreement.

The primary PRU has 8 places dedicated to students with EHCPs for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) as their primary need. Please see link below. If you wish to apply for a place, you will need to contact the SEN Team at Brighton and Hove Council but informal enquiries are welcome via Co-Head Teacher, Tim Self.

Appeals

As placement within any of the Central Hub Brighton provisions is decided either by a child’s mainstream school or, via the Local Authority (where a child has an EHCP), the formal appeals process does not apply within the Pupil Referral Unit provision.

If you as a parent/carer are unhappy with any aspect of your child’s placement at a CHB provision, in the first instance, please either contact your child’s original mainstream school or, the Local Authority (whichever is relevant to your situation).
